Dr. Lucy Tse is one of nation's leading experts on second language acquisition and development. Her workshop, "Strategies for English Language Learners, K-5" is geared toward teachers and administrators who are looking for the best practices available for English Language Learners today.
Dr. Lucy Tse has taught English as a Second Language at all levels for over 10 years. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, and was a professor of education at Loyola Marymount University, Arizona State University, and California State University, Los Angeles. She has published widely in the areas of literacy, second language development, and heritage language issues in well-respected journals such as the Harvard Education Review. Her recent book, Why Don't They Learn English? Facts and Fallacies in the U.S. Language Debate, published by Teachers College Press, won the Best Education Book of the Year award by a prestigious publishing industry group. Dr. Tse is also co-editor of a book on bilingualism entitled Heritage Language Development.
Dr. Tse has appeared on CNN, and has been quoted as an expert on education in the Los Angeles Times and other media outlets. She has presented at a variety of state, national, and international conferences, and gives in-services to teachers on the topics related to second language acquisition and English Language Learners.
